Are you stressed, anxious, and ready for the world to get back to normal? We all are, says Marla Ahlgrimm. Fortunately, a vaccine is here, and it is only a matter of time before we reach the herd immunity we so desperately need. Until then, here are four things you can do today to mitigate stress.
Visit your pharmacy for a health supplement.
There are many supplements that can reduce anxiety, says Marla Ahlgrimm. Valerian root, green tea, and lemon balm are three that come to mind. Valerian can help with sleep, green tea increases serotonin levels, and lemon balm is known as a natural anti-anxiety supplement.
Utilize your olfactory senses.
Your sense of smell is powerful. Marla Ahlgrimm says that lighting a candle scented like lavender, frankincense, or orange is an excellent form of aromatherapy that will quickly tell your brain that things are going to be okay. Certain scents, including lavender and chamomile, are also known to promote restful sleep.
Journal.
Spend time with family.
Marla Ahlgrimm laments that the people who are suffering the most during the pandemic are those that live alone. If you don’t have anyone in your household, reach out to a close friend or family member. Invite them over for a quick cup of coffee, and you’ll notice almost immediately that you feel better. If you are physically separated from your loved ones, a phone call or video chat may be just as effective.
